Ahh, this is simple as eating pie. Just download current stable rpms from www.mysql.com, then
install them with rpm -ivh.
Download these into their own directory, then do rpm -ihv *.rpm
MySQL-client-4.0.12-0.i386.rpm
MySQL-devel-4.0.12-0.i386.rpm
MySQL-Max-4.0.12-0.i386.rpm
MySQL-server-4.0.12-0.i386.rpm
MySQL-shared-4.0.12-0.i386.rpm
